AFCON 2022 schedule, scores, live stream, results: Quarterfinal field set as Mo Salah helps Egypt advance

The knockout stage in the Africa Cup of Nations is underway, and the quarterfinal field is set. The round of eight kicks off Saturday. Egypt punched their ticket to the last eight Wednesday, beating Ivory Coast in a penalty kick shootout. The contest went to penalties after 120 goalless minutes, and Liverpool star Mo Salah scored the winning kick to push his country into the last eight. Equatorial Guinea was also a winner on Wednesday in a penalty shootout as they eliminated Mali.
Burkina Faso became the first country to advance to the quarterfinals, ousting Gabon in an intense penalty shootout. Nigeria were then eliminated by Tunisia, who also moved onto the last eight on Sunday. Cameroon and Gambia joined them as quarterfinalists on Monday, knocking out Comoros and Guinea, respectively. Senegal and Morocco were winners on Tuesday to advance.
There was tragedy at AFCON on Monday as at least eight people were killed in a stampede outside the stadium that hosted Cameroon-Comoros. The CAF said it is investigating the incident.
