Drake’s ’Certified Lover Boy’ holds on to #1 spot on Billboard 200

Third time’s the charm! For the third week in a row, Drake‘s Certified Lover Boy has secured the number-one spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart dated October 2.
Certified Lover Boy was released on September 3 and hasn’t taken a break from the top spot since, opening with the year’s biggest week for any album, moving 613,000 units.
Securing a third consecutive week atop the list makes Drake’s album the first to do so in over a year for any R&B/hip-hop project. Previously Lil Baby‘s My Turn spent five weeks at number one, with his reign ending for the chart-dated July 11, 2020.
As far as 2021 goes, CLB is the third effort to spend so much time at the top of the leaderboard, following Billie Eilish‘s Happier Than Ever, which also spent three consecutive weeks at number one. But Drizzy has some ways to go before topping country star Morgan Wallen‘s Dangerous: The Double Album, which stayed at number one for 10 consecutive weeks.
The success of Drake’s sixth studio album also ranks him third when it comes to total weeks at number one for all of his albums. CLB brings the Canadian rapper’s total to 30 weeks, trailing only Taylor Swift and Adele with 42 and 34 weeks at number one, respectively.
Rounding out the top of the Billboard 200 chart are Lil Nas X‘s debut Montero at number two, and NCT 127‘s Sticker: The 3rd Album in third.
