Why Florida State can cover

Mike Norvell’s squad has won double-digit games for two straight seasons and is looking to lock down its third straight. This is an overhauled roster from last year but the objective stays the same. Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei transferred to Florida State for his senior year after stops at Clemson and Oregon State. Uiagalelei is a very athletic playmaker under center. The California native has one of the strongest arms in college football with the ability to gain yards with his feet.

Last season at Oregon State, Uiagalelei had the Beavers sixth in the Pac-12 in total offense (409.2) and fifth in passing offense (242.2) with 31.8 points per game. In his collegiate career at both Clemson and Oregon State, he totaled 8,319 passing yards and 57 touchdowns. He’s also racked up 1,132 rushing yards and 21 rushing scores. Uiagalelei has supplied at least 25 touchdowns in two straight seasons. See which team to pick here.

Why Georgia Tech can cover

The Yellow Jackets have some continuity coming back to the team from last season. Sophomore linebacker Kyle Efford is one of those guys. Efford is an active and instinctive defender who sniffs out the ball carrier. The Georgia native led the team in total tackles (81) last season to go along with one sack. He finished with at least seven tackles in five straight games to end the 2023 season.

Junior safety Clayton Powell-Lee provides the secondary with a player who isn’t afraid to find the football. The Georgia native finished with 70 total tackles and two pass deflections. Senior safety LaMiles Brooks is a physical tackler and has a knack for making plays on the ball in coverage. Last season, he had 62 total tackles and seven pass deflections. See which team to pick here.
