Josh Sargent has had a rough start to life at Norwich City. While his team has been mired in the relegation zone of the Premier League, he had also struggled to score and saw his playing time stunted. This led to Gregg Berhalter leaving him off the United States men’s national team roster for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers– next Sunday’s crunch fixture at Canada can be streamed on Paramount+.

But in a critical relegation battle with Watford, Sargent broke out in a big way helping Norwich City to a 3-0 victory. Things have been looking up for the Canaries under Dean Smith as they’ve now won two games in a row securing only their forth win of the season. Sargent opened the scoring for Norwich in the 50th minute with quite the scorpion kick on a play that seemed like it would be blown dead.

Nominate that man for a Puskas award. That was a confident finish for a player who has the movement and work rate to be a top Premier League forward, he just needs to get a few goals under his belt so that the game can come easier at times. Berhalter spoke about the goal in his national team press conference saying,

“We saw he scored today and that’s great for him and his confidence,” Berhalter said. “It’s great for Norwich who are in a tricky situation in the league.”

Sargent would find another goal as he powered a header past Daniel Bachmann from long range.

It was a game where Sargent was everywhere and with more performances like this, not only will he show Berhalter what he’s missing on the national team but he’ll keep Norwich City in the Premier League too. next up for the Canaries is trip to Wolves on Feb. 5.
