NFL divisional round best bets: Bengals a good story, but Titans too much to handle with Derrick Henry back

Written by on January 22, 2022

Another great week. We won both best bets and won them easily. Never in question. Just like we said. That brings us to 27-17 and on a heater heading into divisional round weekend.

We are going to stick with our program here. This week doesn’t look great to me. These lines are a little too close for comfort for the most part. I don’t have super strong feelings one way or the other about them. I thought about throwing in an Over/Under, which I almost never dabble in, and if I did go that route I would take the over in the Bills/Chiefs game … But then I thought better of it.

So I am going to stick with what I feel most strongly about. I’m going to keep it simple, stupid. I’m going to try to remain judicious about my process. And I am going to, sadly, for Bengals Super Fan John Breech, predict that here is where the story ends for Joe Burrow.

Tennessee Titans -3.5 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Latest Odds: Tennessee Titans -3.5

The Bengals did not play at their best last week, at home, against a lesser opponent, They survived, but a lot more will be asked of them traveling to Nashville this weekend. The Titans defensive line may be the best in football. And the Bengals OL, especially the right side, gives me a bit of pause. I know Burrow loves empty sets, but I can see some problems in his immediate future.

The Titans size up to me as the most physical team. They are the more playoff experienced team. They are at home. They are more well-rested. And they are getting back Derrick Henry shortly after finding other backs who can also carry the load. The play action game will go to another level for Ryan Tannehill with Henry there, and Tannehill’s overall production is exceedingly better with Henry than without him.

I believe in this young Bengals team. Great things are still ahead. But the road is a different beast. The Titans are loaded with beasts. They win this game by six points or more.

If I went into teasers, I’d tease the Titans up to catching points and tease the Over/Under in the Chiefs game down.
