There will be goals in this weekend’s slate of Serie A action on Paramount+. Sampdoria already gave us an appetizer in the Friday match, putting three past Genoa as they tried to put more space between themselves and the relegation zone. A seventh-minute goal by Manolo Gabbiadini set the pace as from only three shots on target Sampdoria were able to get the win. But that’s how so many Serie A matches have gone with goals flying in from every direction as we’ll see with our two first featured games, Sassuolo vs. Lazio and Napoli vs. Empoli. Here’s everything you need to know about the weekend’s biggest Serie A matches.

1. Sassuolo vs. Lazio

  • Date: Sunday, Dec. 12 | Time: 12 p.m. ET
  • TV: CBS Sports Network | Live stream: Paramount+
  • Caesars Sportsbook odds: Sassuolo +165; Draw +255; Lazio +155

Why watch: Domenico Berardi’s form has now seen him enter the top ten of scoring in the league with seven goals while Maxime Lopez has been helping dictate Sassuolo’s play during their recent run of form. During this time, Lazio has become quite the leaky defense conceding 11 goals since the start of November, second worst in the league behind only Venezia. Sassuolo has scored more than two goals in five straight matches while allowing multiple goals in four of those. Lazio will look to keep all their men on the field as they’ve picked up red cards in their previous two Serie A matches but that will make for an interesting watch.

2. Napoli vs. Empoli

  • Date: Sunday, Dec. 12 | Time: 12 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: Paramount+
  • Caesars Sportsbook Odds: Napoli -295; Draw +280; Empoli +800

Why watch: While things are still tight at the top of Serie A, Napoli has fallen to third in the league after their 3-2 loss to Atalanta last week. While they got revenge in Europa League taking down Leicester, there is a slight cause for concern that injuries are catching up. Napoli will hope to have a way to stop Andrea Pinamonti in this one, otherwise they may suffer another bad loss to a dangerous Empoli side.

3. Venezia vs. Juventus

  • Date: Saturday, Dec. 11 | Time: 12 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: Paramount+
  • Caesars Sportsbook odds: Venezia +850; Draw +375; Juventus -275

Why watch: While Weston McKennie still won’t be back for this game, seeing if Juventus can turn things around against Venezia’s American contingent is worth watching. Venezia have had one of the worst defenses in Serie A while Juventus can’t score consistently, so it will be interesting to see which side moves the needle. Venezia also take the fewest shots per game while allowing the most which should favor Juventus being able to get their attack going. This is a match where if things don’t go Juve’s way, it’s time to become concerned.

4. Inter Milan vs. Caligari

  • Date: Sunday, Dec. 12 | Time: 2:45 p.m. ET
  • TV: CBS Sports Network | Live stream: Paramount+
  • Caesars Sportsbook odds: Inter -625; Draw +625; Caligari +1800

Why watch: The second place team in Serie A is hosting one of the worst sides in the league but given the importance of the title race, all eyes should be on the top three. Edin Dzeko and Nicolo Barella have been leading the charge for Inter but there are other players who can hurt Caligari if they don’t pay attention. Sitting in 18th place, Caligari has been one of the worst attacking sides in the league, but they’ve also drawn 28 Serie A games against inter, so maybe they have their number?

5. Udinese vs. AC Milan

  • Date: Saturday, Dec. 11 | Time: 2:45 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: Paramount+
  • Caesars Sportsbook Odds: Udinese +310; Draw +375; Milan -106

Why watch: The Serie A leaders host Undinese with no margin for error, as they currently have a one point advantage for the title. Udinese wants to overcome their loss to Empoli, but it’s a tough road doing that here against Milan. Stopping Zlatan Ibahimovic and Rafael Leao is easier said than done but Milan have been able to beat teams using other methods too as they have a true group effort.
