Written by CBS SPORTS ALL RIGHTS RESERVED on September 12, 2024
The 2024-25 Serie A season is back and back with a bang as the usual giants aim to fight for the title while other clubs hope they can pull off what Bologna did last season and surprisingly qualify for the Champions League. Inter and Juventus look like the favorites to win the league on paper but teams like AC Milan and Atalanta hope to spoil the party in what should be another thrilling campaign.

Game of the week: Atalanta vs. Fiorentina
Usually, this is one of the most entertaining games to watch over the season. Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta, after a disappointing defeat against Inter, face Fiorentina, which also had a difficult start of the season, where the Viola drew all the three games played so far against Parma, Venezia and Monza. New manager Raffaele Palladino is working to start a new cycle at the club, but things started off slowly so far.

- Odds: Atalanta -125; Draw +260; Fiorentina +320
Juventus’ restart
After winning the first two games of the season against Como and Verona, Juventus drew their third game of the 2024-25 season against Roma that changed a bit the good perception of the new cycle of manager Thiago Motta. The match against Empoli is just the perfect chance to be back on track and put pressure on Inter that will play on Sunday at San Siro against Monza.
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 14 | Time: 12 p.m. ET
- Location: Stadio Carlo Castellani — Empoli, Italy
- Live stream: Paramount+
- Odds: Empoli +400; Draw +260; AC Milan -140
Pulisic to face Busio?
USMNT start Christian Pulisic had a strong start of the season where he already scored one goal against Parma and also provided one assist in the game against Lazio. The winger is set to face American teammate Gianluca Busio who is at Venezia. However, it’s still unclear if the midfielder will start against the Rossoneri after he missed the start of the season due to an injury he suffered at the 2024 Olympic games but he’s expected to make his Serie A season debut this weekend. Pulisic just scored for the U.S. on Tuesday in the 1-1 draw with New Zealand.
- Date: Saturday, Sept. 14 | Time: 2:45 p.m. ET
- Location: San Siro — Milan, Italy
- Live stream: Paramount+
- Odds: AC Milan -360; Draw +400; Venezia +900
