Will.i.am, D-Nice and DJ Hed are coming together for a livestream event aimed at helping people affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. LA Check In will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. PT via D-Nice’s YouTube, will.i.am’s Instagram and Twitch, in partnership with Will’s Angel Foundation, WalkGood LA and the Annenberg Foundation.
Much like D-Nice’s virtual Club Quarantine parties during the COVID-19 pandemic, LA Check In will feature D-Nice hyping the virtual crowd while on the 1s and 2s. He’ll be joined by DJ Hed for this event, with a few celebrities and LA heroes slated to make an appearance.
“Club Quarantine showed us the power of music and connection,” D-Nice said in a statement. “LA CHECK IN will remind us of the resilience and hope we share as a community.”
The benefit concert will also offer “community, entertainment and value to the affected and those looking for ways to assist,” providing “updates on vital resources,” ways to donate funds to first responders, evacuees and displaced workers, and some nonprofits that will focus on helping these groups.
“Families and students across the city urgently need our support as many lives have been disrupted, including losing everything in the fires,” will.i.am said in a press release. “Teaming up with fellow musicians and the Annenberg Foundation for fire relief is what the community needs right now to connect us and activate those who wish to donate and volunteer.”
“When disaster strikes, it reminds us that we’re all in this together,” added DJ Hed. “LA CHECK IN is just another beam of light we hope to shine into a dark time.”
